Marc Tidd (Head of Learning) at Trinity Lutheran College was recently featured internationally on the HundrED site for creating an innovative program in financial skills for students. Students learn essential financial skills from budgeting to financial projections by designing a social enterprise and pitching for funding.
Using Start Up models of design thinking and idea incubators, students design a social enterprise and pitch for ‘virtual funds’. Real case studies and video interviews from local businesses inspire ideas and strategies. Free tools such as Trello enable project based learning. Students also study positive psychology to understand how poor financial and business choices are often made due mindset.
