The Learner First Signature Program

We’re pleased to announce that LEQ’s first Learner First Signature School Program has launched. St Peters Lutheran College Springfield is one of the first LEQ schools to engage in this global initiative, collaborating with The Learner First in a six-part leadership series (Culture and Moral Purpose).

St Peters LC Springfield intends to weave academic learning and wellbeing into their everyday practice. We look forward to the journey ahead as they collaborate with The Learner First to reframe the purpose of learning – to learn who their learners are, how we fit into the world, and how we can contribute to humanity.

The outcome of this culture work is a codesigned Whole School Action Plan to identify short, medium and long-term improvement strategies and goals and involves:

  1. An audit of the culture of the school through the lens of each of the rubrics.
  2. An understanding of the way values, assumptions, and beliefs impact on the behaviours of schools.
  3. An understanding of the concepts of Success, Equity, Deep Learning and Least Served Learners.
  4. An understanding of the factors which enable or inhibit deep learning in schools.
  5. A shared language and understanding of school purpose and culture.
  6. An Action Plan to move forward in small, scaffolded steps to build belonging and purpose.
