Heidi Hansen (Principal), Terriane Sherry (Learning Enhancement Teacher) and Joshua Pacek (Innovation and Learning Design Teacher) from Bethany Lutheran Primary School, recently visited a number of Catholic schools in Sydney. Hosted by Darren Pope and Dr Kate O’Brien (Assistant Director, Sydney Catholic Schools) they met with school leaders to explore how pedagogy and culture had been transformed in their schools, through the use of data and evidence-based research. A number of key messages and themes emerged. Leaders in these schools emphasised the importance of making all components of the learning cycle visible, tangible and critiquable, with a focus on high expectations, relationships and accountability for all. Bethany staff are excited to share these experiences with their school community, as they continue working together to refine current pedagogy and practice.
