Students from St Andrew’s Lutheran College were again hosted with their parents by Xplor Melbourne to provide a few days of authentic rich learning about being an entrepreneur.
This is the culmination of many months of the St Andrew’s IC Program.
Students spent three days working side by side with adult professional teams across many roles. The students were able to bring in the right expertise to join the team from across the world and I overheard executives speaking very favourably about the resilience, grit, collaboration, empathy and other qualities that these students were further developing.
“We are extremely proud of our SALC students who engaged with Xplor professionals over this week in Melbourne. The finale of pitches of innovations in front of hundreds of professionals drew venture capitalists and industry professionals to suggest future options for these young entrepreneurs. The buzz was electric and our young learners were ecstatic to be included as a leader in a professional adult team” School Leader
“this is the most real project we have ever done in our whole schooling time” Student
“doing projects at school is all about assessment and grades, we are excelling in this project because we want to do it well and are part of a real team” Student
“I cannot believe how these young people have transformed over the last few days, I am so so proud” Parent
“Being able to foster a relationship with an industry partner has enabled us to grow our entrepreneurial program and allows our students to work side by side with professionals.
A rich learning experience for everyone involved.” Teacher
The contemporary skills gained in a few days by these students in this immersion is far more that can be achieved elsewhere.
