19 senior students from Grace Lutheran College were privileged to hear amazing stories of perseverance and hope as they hosted members of The Lodge Youth Support Service Inc from Nundah. The Lodge prides itself on being a “homely” context, providing structure, boundaries, responsibility and accountability that mould struggling teenagers into disciplined young adults.
Members of The Lodge shared their personal experiences around homelessness in Brisbane, and the challenges facing those in situations of domestic violence, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and displacement. Students were proud of the successes Lodge members were achieving in education, employment and training and the encouragement in the room was heart-warming.
Students were able to gift The Lodge with a stash of clothes donated by the Grace community as well as announce that the GoFundMe campaign brought in more than $2000 to support their Living Skills program.
