Living Faith Year 1 students are encouraged to make themselves comfortable in order to be engaged while reading. How fantastic that Living Faith inspires students to want to read to develop their literacy, boost brain power and spark their imagination.
Here are students in 1 Hope working on one of their ‘Daily 5’ literacy activities – ‘Read to Self’. Living Faith Lutheran Primary School believe that students are most engaged when they are comfortable so the students can choose where and how they want to sit or lie down, as long as they are safe and remain engaged in the task at hand. As a class, their current ‘stamina’ record is 16 minutes (16 minutes of quietly reading without the teacher needing to redirect anyone) – pretty impressive for Year 1 students, particularly so early in the year!
