The LEQ Secretariat Offices at Milton are in the middle of a long overdue refurbishment. Carpets were overdue for replacement and painting was also needed. The photos will give you an idea of the current state.
Over the past half a dozen years, LEQ has made multiple, intentional decisions to hand back floor space to LCAQD to reduce rental costs to schools, and at the same time take professional learning and key meetings out to schools for ease of parking and access. As this has occurred we have also been conscious that the remaining space occupied by LEQ Secretariat was inefficiently being utilised. Small individual offices, most without windows or natural light, and many only being utilised a couple of days a week all leading to a less than ideal working environment.
A new activity-based workspace with the support of Programmed Building Services will allow co-working and collaboration to occur where it is warranted, will allow natural light to be experienced by each employee, and will break down artificial silos that have developed over time.
By the end of May we will be in the new space. In the meantime, we are working from a number of sites including the foyer on level 2. A big thank you to a few schools – Living Faith, Redeemer, Bethania, Grace and Trinity – for offering to house a few of our staff for a couple of weeks, and to QLECS for their support with space.
