Growing leadership capacity to serve in a variety of roles is an important aspect of the Leadership Development Program (LDP). In addition to formal study through ALC and ACU, mentoring, state and national connections, gaining insight from experienced leaders provides invaluable support for the Queensland LDP cohorts’ continued professional growth.
At the recent LEQ Regional LDP Workshop, the group shared their application of learning and workshopped with Principals’ Tim Kotzur and Shane Altmann covering aspects of the Principal role, media, crisis management and professional conversations. Here are several reflections from the day.
“I really enjoyed hearing from Principals with differing contexts and this was really valuable. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions in the relatively personal space – I think these opportunities are really valuable for beginning leaders.”
Reid Dobson, Faith Lutheran College Plainland
“A thoroughly worthwhile day spent listening, reflecting and learning. Thank you to Tim Kotzur for sharing his perspectives, experiences and reflections on ‘Principal as Spiritual Leader, Lead Learner and CEO’. It was a thought-provoking and engaging session that captured the uniqueness of the role of Principal.”
Marg Gunn, Pacific Lutheran College
As the culmination of their two year learning journey, during October, the cohort will share their final assessment presentations with mentors. We are grateful for the generous gift of time, experience and talent that our schools have invested in growing our emerging leaders through LDP.
