Good News Lutheran School students placed 2nd in the Y3-4 Division at the National Finals of the Young ICT Explorers Challenge on Saturday 20 February.
Their project was the Defloodinator3000 which is designed to prevent pools from flooding. Their device detects when the water gets too high and automatically drains the pool back to a safe level.
Due to COVID restrictions, the YICTE competition, which is the largest invention challenge for students in Australia, was held virtually this time. The girls involved impressed the judges with their creativity and ingenuity.
Students presented their app idea to Hon. Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Women, at Parliament House for International Women’s Day and to celebrate the launch of the TechGirls Competition for 2021. The girls impressed the minister with their enthusiasm, passion and innovation.
