Working together to support your child to be ‘inspired for life’
Lutheran schools in Queensland understand the important role parents play in the education of their children. Without a supportive home environment, the capacity of schools to maximise each child’s learning is limited. When teachers, parents and the community work together to support each child, the child thrives.
There are many different ways that parents can assist their children to be successful in their learning journey within a Lutheran school.
What can you do to assist your child’s learning?
- Volunteer to join the Parents and Friends Committee or serve in the school’s tuckshop
- Volunteer at school fundraising or friend–raising events
- Assist with a support-a-reader program
- Read to, and with, your child every night
- Attend parent-teacher interviews and meetings
- Work with the school and be consistent with expectations
- Maintain close and open communication with your child’s teacher/s
- Ask your child every afternoon, “what was something you learnt today?” or “what was something exciting that happened today?”
