Lutheran schools in Queensland strive to deliver ‘inspired learning for life’. We take a holistic approach that aims to stimulate curiosity, a desire to learn, and a passion to serve others. Our rigorous academic programs are complemented by broad co-curricular programs and experiences that challenge a student to learn and grow.
Lutheran schools are committed to working in partnership with families to provide the best possible learning environment where our students’ well-being is central to their capacity to flourish and build positive relationships.
Our schools challenge children and young adults to take risks with their learning in a safe, supportive environment where failure is acceptable as long as it leads to greater learning. Innovation and collaborative learning are expectations, and complex problems are eagerly approached.
A Lutheran perspective of education
All Lutheran schools provide a rich variety of learning experiences that encourage creativity and inquiry, foster respectful dialogue and leave room for wonder.
We openly acknowledge that our Christian heritage shapes our values and our school culture.
Christian Studies is an academic subject taught from Prep to Year 12 so students can learn about God’s ongoing love and care for humans and this planet. Our schools provide regular opportunities for the community to come together, pray and worship.
Educating the whole child
Educators in a Lutheran school acknowledge that each person is created with unique God-given gifts and talents. We encourage all our learners to be curious investigators and creative problem-solvers. Holistic education recognises the importance of the intellectual, physical, emotional, social and spiritual development of every student.
A rich variety of learning experiences cater for diverse learners’ needs. All students are challenged and inspired to become caring, responsible citizens who can recognise and respond to the needs of others and the needs of our planet. In Lutheran Schools, we call this Service Learning.
Networks of care and repair
In Lutheran schools, effective networks of care and repair nurture students as they develop strong, positive relationships which build a community where everyone can flourish and belong.
Pastoral practices are important so students can experience nurture and encouragement to become more self-aware, resilient and empathetic. In turn, relationships flourish and learning is enhanced.
When harm happens, restorative processes develop respect, accountability and inclusion. This educative approach is called Restorative Practices in Lutheran schools.
Community
Within all Lutheran Education Queensland schools, there is a tangible sense of family and community. This is fostered purposefully as it is the hallmark of a supportive environment conducive to learning. Our schools are places where staff, students, families and volunteers come together with a common purpose.
Beyond our school gates, Lutheran schools are committed to fostering mutually beneficial relationships with local businesses, tertiary education institutions, health and community welfare services, and government agencies. Our schools are world renowned for their commitment to Service Learning, which gives expression to our ethos and values, as well as enhancing both academic and wider personal outcomes for students.

Each of our Lutheran schools manage their own enrolment processes. These processes, and any policies relating to enrolments, can be found by visiting the respective school’s website. Processes may vary slightly between individual schools. It is never too early or too late to apply to enrol your child in a Lutheran Education Queensland school of your choice.
