Looking for a fun and meaningful way to bring your school community together? Passionate about education for ALL children?
Then Walk My Way is for you!
Walk My Way is a 25km walking challenge coming to the Sunshine Coast on Sunday 4 August, starting at Good Shepherd Lutheran College in Noosa. After a hearty breakfast, Walkers will set off along the track.
They’ll walk along bike paths, board walks, coastal forest, and some of the best beaches in the world, before arriving at Luther Heights Youth Camp, Coolum, for a Finish Line Celebration!
Just $26 can help a refugee child in South Sudan or Kenya go to school by providing:
When you register for the Walk, you’ll create a personal fundraising page to share with others. Family, friends and colleagues can donate any amount they like to support you. You can register a team of teachers or students as a way to bring your wider school community together to help others.
Or why not register BOTH teams and have them compete against each other to see who can raise the most??
More than 400 Walkers have already Walk-ed My Way in SA, WA, NT and Vic – helping more than 6,000 refugee children go to school.
Among the Lutheran schools who had principals, teachers, school pastors, or students – or all 4! – walking the talk were:
- Concordia
- Cornerstone
- Encounter
- Endeavour
- Good Shepherd
- Immanuel
- Redeemer
- St John’s
- St Michael’s
- St Petri
- St Peters
- Tatachilla
- Calvary Kindergarten
… PLUS Living Waters (WA) and Good Shepherd (NT)
… PLUS Executive Director of Lutheran Education SA, NT & WA John Proeve!
Pastor Dale Gosden and students from Endeavour College (SA) joined the Adelaide Walk in 2017. Pastor Dale says linking curriculum about refugees with the Walk had a great impact on students’ learning:
‘Twelve enthusiastic students from Years 7-11 signed up, trained, recruited sponsors and – most importantly – turned up in tough conditions and completed the walk with great spirit.
It was great to see so many of them make connections between their learning, our school’s spiritual life and the work of the church. I hope events like this become a regular part of our school community’s life in the future.’
If you can’t make it to the Sunshine Coast, don’t despair!

Walk My Way is part of the ALWS GRACE Project, aiming to help 40,000 refugee children go to school in 2019…
…to ‘match’ the 40,000 students in Lutheran schools in Australia. We’d love you to join in!
