‘20/20 vision’ is a medical term used to express normal visual acuity (the clarity of vision) measured at a distance of 20 feet. If you have 20/20 vision, you can see clearly at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. If you have 20/100 vision, it means that you must be as close as 20 feet to see what a person with normal vision can see at 100 feet. [For those of you born post-1966, replace 20 feet with 6 metres and 100 feet with 30 metres]
As the 2020 year commences, do you have clarity of vision around what you hope to achieve professionally, and what you hope your school community achieves? If you do, have you articulated that clearly to those within the community who will be instrumental in achieving success? Patrick Lencioni in The Advantage reinforces the need for leaders in healthy high-performing organisations to create clarity, over-communicate clarity and reinforce clarity.
The Lutheran Education Queensland Secretariat will be engaged in a spiritual retreat on Thursday 30 January and then the leadership team will also be off-site on Friday 31 January operationalizing the LEQ Department Strategy and Vision for this year. Our clear and focused vision will be on the third of the 3-year priorities: building the foundational systems and structures. We will update you following our planning work on our ‘2020 vision’ to support you in our schools and services.
Every blessing
Dennis
