The school principal is responsible for facilitating the NCCD process and ensuring that all staff understand the NCCD process and the school’s obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.
The 2020 Guidelines are now available and should be distributed to the senior leadership team. It is important to note that curriculum leaders play a vital role in the collection of evidence for the NCCD count and should be made aware of these guidelines also. You can access a copy of the guidelines here: https://www.nccd.edu.au/tools/nccd-guidelines-0
Note also that the Education Department has become aware of a number of apps / websites purporting to provide assistance with administration of the NCCD.
They have advised that is not a requirement of the department /Australian Government that a school use third party software to administer the NCCD, and
- has no affiliation with these applications
- has not assessed or endorsed their content
- has not assessed and therefore is not able to support any claim that their use fulfils any requirements of the NCCD.
Approved authorities need to independently be satisfied that they are complying with the Australian Education Act 2013 and the Australian Education Regulation 2013.
