In The Good Ancestor, Roman Krznaric challenges us to think beyond the immediate and embrace long‑term responsibility.
Education, at its heart, is one of the most profound ways we shape the future. And Lutheran Education Australia’s frameworks — Growing Deep and Free to Flourish — invite our early years services and schools to nurture learners who are not only equipped for today but prepared to contribute meaningfully for generations to come.
What are Growing Deep and Free to Flourish all about?
Growing Deep emphasizes cultivating wisdom, character, and resilience. These qualities ensure that students are grounded in values that transcend fleeting trends.
Free to Flourish celebrates the individuality of each learner, encouraging creativity, compassion, and courage.
Together, a Lutheran education is one that plants seeds, and whose fruits may be enjoyed by descendants we will never meet.
To be a ‘good ancestor’ in education means fostering communities where, for students, knowledge is not just transferred but transformed into service, stewardship, and hope. Where, for educators, legacy is not measured in test scores but in lives touched, futures opened, and the enduring capacity to flourish.
Remember, as in Psalms 78:4:
“We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”
God Bless all those who have been called to serve in the great mission of education.
