We warmly welcome Prince of Peace Lutheran College’s new Head of College, Dr Susan Carter.

On Sunday 9 February in the Prince of Peace Church, Dr Susan Carter was installed as Head of College by First Assistant Bishop Rev Ben Hentschke (Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District) and Tanya Crooks (Executive Director, Lutheran Education Queensland).

Lutheran Education Queensland is a community connecting more than 81 schools, outside school hours care, and early years services. The Prince of Peace name represents three of these learning settings: the College serving both primary and secondary students, an Outside School Hours Care, and a Kindergarten.

Reading from Jeremiah 17:7-8 during proceedings, Dr Carter explained her vision for the School: “…like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Dr Carter’s vision only builds on the College’s strong foundations, embracing what students know as the ‘unity in community’.

Colleague Principals from across south-east Queensland gathered to celebrate Dr Carter’s installation, including principals from Faith Lutheran College – Plainland, Faith Lutheran College Redlands, Grace Lutheran College, Immanuel Lutheran College, Lutheran Ormeau Rivers District School (LORDS), St Andrews Lutheran College, St James Lutheran College, St Peters Lutheran College, and Trinity Lutheran College.

Members of the College Council, the Hon Tim Mander MP, Cr Tracy Davis, Cr Matthew Constance, Assoc. Prof Lisa Schmidt (Executive Director, Lutheran Education Australia) and invited guests from across the wider LEQ, Lutheran Youth of Queensland, Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District, and congregation communities were also in attendance.

We wish Dr Carter all the best in her newly appointed position. Like trees planted by the water, may students, staff, and families grow and flourish under her stewardship.
